Tropical Ecology

1.
What are you excited about learning in your tropical
ecology class?

I’m so excited to learn more about the relationship between the human being, and organism in the ecosystems, and how the human can affect the environmental, without been aware.  Also I’m so excited to learn about the diversity of flora and fauna of different tropical countries.

2.
What is one of the main environmental issues your community
experiences?
One of the main environmental issues is the polluted water. Approximately 50 families in my community have been drinking contaminated water for many years, and this is one of the main causes of diseases
like diarrhea, that cause d
ehydration, vomiting, and stomachache. The river is polluted by garbage, cattle
manure, and herbicides when it’s dragged by the rain. The people in my community it’s not aware for the big problem that is harming in their health and also the whole ecosystem in the river.

3.
What things have you learned thus far to help improve the
environmental conditions of your community? (Think about all the classes you
have taken and experiences in the field)

I have been learn so many things for example how to improve the productivity of the crops without using herbicides, just using compost that is the only way to produce healthy food without contaminate
the soil. I learned many techniques of recycling, like how to educate people about how to separate the plastics from the garbage and reuse it to prevent pollution in the environment. Another important thing that I learned is about reforestation and how to maintain a riparian area of the rivers, which is vital
to maintain healthy of the river, and the whole ecosystem.

4.
Post a YouTube video related to the ecology of your country
(less than 5 min video)

Post a link of a website that has information of the flora and fauna of your country?
